6 Weeks

Stare down...

Proud big brother...terrified little sister!

Katelyn weighed in at 9 pounds, 13 ounces at Support group this week. I was thinking that she'd be 10 pounds, but she's getting there! She's still eating about every 2 hours during the day, but will occasionally go almost 3 hours.

Her sleep has improved somewhat...she slept 6 hours in a row a couple times, but only in her bouncy seat. I'm really hoping to get her sleeping in her bassinet/co-sleeper soon. Now if I could just get her to go back to sleep quickly in the middle of the night...generally by the time I change her, feed her, and get her back to sleep it's a 90 minute ordeal! I keep her swaddled the whole time and only turn on a small lamp. I'm open to other suggestions! (Especially if the 6 hour trend continues...she sleeps from 10ish to 4ish...by the time I get back to bed Brendan's getting up!)

We've gotten more smiles, talking & playing this week. I feel like she's slowly developing somewhat of a routine/schedule. She'll take a good nap in the morning and another one early afternoon (plus lots of cat naps throughout the day), but is generally awake & happy during Brendan's nap time. Not great for Mommies who want to nap too! She's definitely grumpy/fussy in the evening, but Chris is pretty good at getting her to calm down/nap on his chest.

Boxing with the Animals!

No matter how frequently I seem to file Katelyn's nails, she's still scratching herself. She also tends to grab at her left ear frequently as well, so I've resorted to putting the baby mittens on her during the day. Here she's using them to her advantage to beat up on the animals on the bouncy seat!

Katelyn & Lily Meet

My cousin Molly recently had a baby girl as well. We were actually both due on the same day. Lily was born early & Katelyn late...the girls are 20 days apart. Molly was sweet enough to get the girls matching outfits, so we had some fun taking pictures of them.

Mimi & Papaw wanted a picture with all three of the great-grand children...this was the best we got...Brendan did not want to cooperate.

Alana was a "baby hog" and wanted to hold both of the girls...

Visiting Great Grandpa Bill

On Sunday all eight of us (Mamaw, GrandBob, Rob, Jenny & the four Lows) piled into the Suburban for a drive to Terre Haute to visit with my Grandpa - Katelyn & Brendan's Great Grandpa Bill. Mom's brother & his girlfriend Virginia met us at Grandpa's apartment and we had a yummy lunch of hot dogs & brats as well as baked beans, chips & potato salad. Aunt Jenny made a delicious peach pie as Grandpa requested. We all had a great visit & hopefully Grandpa enjoyed the company. Brendan was pretty well behaved and got spoiled with a new "Monster Car" and some ice cream. Virginia didn't seem to want to put Katelyn down!

Stickers!

While Brendan & I were waiting for Katelyn to wake up from her three hour nap, we had some fun with a sheet of stickers from the Easter Bunny! He was so cute...sharing his stickers with Mommy & naming all the trucks, etc. on them.

A great place to nap!

Katelyn discovered that the swing is great place to nap. She slept for 3 hours and may have slept longer, but I turned the swing off in hopes of her waking up to eat before our dinner was ready!

One Month Check-up

Birth:
Weight: 8 pounds 2 ounces (73rd percentile)
Height: 21 1/2 inches (97th percentile)
Head circumference: 15 inches (96th percentile)

1 month:

Head circumference: 15 1/2 inches (82nd percentile)

Doctor says she looks great and couldn't hear the heart murmur that was heard while we were in the hospital. Yeah! But, we both agreed that we'd like another Echo to make sure that the PDA has closed. So, we'll be doing that next week.

Enjoying the Spring weather

We've all been enjoying the nice spring weather. Katelyn has been taking advantage of the portable swing we have.

4 weeks!

Time is flying by! It's so hard to believe that it's been four weeks since Katelyn came into our lives and we can't imagine life without here.

I can't say that we have a schedule at this point other than Katelyn eats about every 2 hours, except for one 3 1/2 to 4 hour stretch at night usually after some "cluster feeding". She is still sleeping in her bouncy seat - granted, we haven't tried very hard to break her of it - sleep is too precious to me!

The biggest change we've noticed this week - as evidenced by the previous post - is how much more alert & happy she is at times.

Brendan continues to be a great big brother. He "helps" with diaper changes, i.e. when I ask him for a diaper, he pulls out all diapers in the bin. He will also help Katelyn with her pacifier when it falls out, but about half the time he puts it in his own mouth.

Not sure of her exact weight at this point, but her newborn diapers are getting small (and we're almost out of the ones we have anyway!) and I'm planning to pack up the newborn clothes this coming weekend.

Smiles!

Anyone else...

have a parking lot in their kitchen? :)

Talking to the bears

We're trying to get Katelyn used to lying flat some (she sleeps in her bouncy seat...don't flame! I'm not happy about it, but if she doesn't sleep, then I don't sleep), so when happy, we put her in the pack n play. she really likes the bear mobile that it has.

(Not sure why the picture is rotated...it's not when I uploaded it.)

A Mohawk

Apparently Brendan's hair was still wet when he went to bed last night. Luckily, we aren't planning to go out today!

First Real Bath

Katelyn's cord finally fell off a couple days ago. She tends to sleep lot in the evenings (when she's not eating that is!), so we finally had to wake her up to give her a bath! She did ok with her bath, I just didn't get very many good & postabl pictures.
She seems to have a little curl in her hair when it's wet, but it falls out once dry.

Easter Baskets

After everyone took naps, Brendan got into his Easter basket. His favorites were of course the little cars..."Race car", "Blue car", & "Green car".

Katelyn enjoyed "opening" her basket as well. :)

Easter Egg Hunt

Brendan had a great time hunting for some easter eggs in the front yard after lunch. (He spent the night at Mamaw & GrandBob's, so this was the first time he was home today.) Some eggs had some car stickers in them, which he is wearing on his shirt and others had jelly beans & mini Reese cups. As you can see in some of the later pictures, he quickly realized that the jelly beans were quite good to eat!

Katelyn even got into the Easter Egg Hunt!
