Playin' Trains

Brendan loves to set up his train "village" on the kitchen table. He moves from chair to chair playing with his engines & cars. I think that this is easier for him than playing on the floor, because he doesn't inadvertently mess up the track with his legs/feet.

Swingset

The weather cooperated so that the kids could be outside and enjoy the swing set a couple more times before we sold it in anticipation of our move. (The new house has a bigger & better swing set.)

Brendan is really getting too big at least for the swing! Katelyn, our little dare devil, enjoyed the slide. She wanted to go down head first!

Then Brendan wanted Katelyn to do down the slide on his lap.

One Year Old Check-up

Stats:
Weight: 17 pounds, 10 ounces (3rd percentile)
Height: 29 1/2 inches (57th percentile)
Head: ? I know that she measured, but I can't remember! Bad mommy!

Katelyn is doing well, other than having her second ear infection. Hopefully this explains the poor sleep the last couple nights.

Visiting the Zoo

GrandBob had to work, but everyone else including Bisia & Grampy ventured to the zoo. It was a nice, but cool day so the animals were out and about. The first thing that Brendan wanted to do was to see the sharks.

Katelyn was intrigued by the penguins.

The best family picture we got from the day.

Butterfly Ears & Butterfly 'Jamies

To complete the butterfly theme, Katelyn had to wear her Butterfly PJs to bed.

Eating some birthday cake!

Katelyn was again, not a fan of the icing on her fingers!
I think that Brendan is cheering her on now.
Much better with a spoon!

Opening Presents

Brendan was again a big helper at Katelyn's party. He helped her tear through her presents in record time. :)

Butterfly Cake

Since Katelyn's original nickname is Baby Bug, I made her a butterfly cake for her first birthday.

SOLD!

So hard to believe, but we officially sold our house today. We are so glad this part is over, but it is a little bittersweet to be packing to leave our first home - where we brought our babies home.

Just some fun pictures from today. One of her birthday gifts that has been a huge hit!

Wrestling

52 Weeks

Weight: 17 pounds, 6 ounces at Support Group this morning

She's still definitely a peanut girl. She's comfortably in 6-9 month clothes and size 2 diapers. Yep...my 1 year old is still wearing size 2 diapers. :)

Sleeping: Katelyn is still getting up usually once per night to nurse, but typically goes back to sleep fairly quickly and on her own. I'll be glad to not have to climb the stairs in the middle of the night in our new house! There have been a few wonderful nights where she has slept all the way through. :)

Eating: She'll eat just about any table foods offered to her. Peas are one of her favorite foods, along with just about any fruit. She still is taking bottles while away from me. She is not a fan of cow's milk at all. She'll take a few sips each day. Luckily, she loves cheese and cottage cheese to make up for it!

Big Brother & Little Sister are great playmates. They "wrestle", play trains, and squeal at each other. Hopefully they continue to be good friends. Brendan can be a little rough with Katelyn in tackling her. However, Katelyn is one tough cookie and for the most part just laughs right along with him. This makes it very hard to discipline him when she doesn't seem to care!

Talking: Ma - Ma is pretty much her only word and it has different meanings. One if for Mommy :) and the other generally seems to be "I want..." She gets her point across pretty well. She also nods correctly to many questions, which helps a lot!

Birthday Presents

Brendan was very excited about Katelyn's presents. We were afraid that he'd just want her gifts, which he did somewhat, but it was more that he just wanted to help her open them. He kept asking, "What's in this one?!" "Let's open this one now!"

Of course the gift wrap & plastic packaging were some of Katelyn's favorites.

Cake!

We sang "Happy Birthday" to Katelyn while she watched her candle from afar. :)
She was super dainty about her purple cupcake. Just pretty much just dipped her fingers in the icing and then licked it off.
After some encouraging - I broke the cupcake up a little bit - she took a bite of cake.

And she finally got a little bit messy.

Showing Dora where the cake & icing crumbs are.
