Butternut Squash

So we went to the Farmer's Market this morning and they had butternut squash for $1 each. I love squash and decided that it sounded good. Once we got home, I decided that it would be a fun experiment to make baby food with the squash. It was really easy and I hope to be able to make more for her. Of course, she hasn't had any yet, but what I've read says that most things freeze well for up to several months. One squash made one ice cube tray full, plus the tupperware pictured. I tried to get Brendan to try some of it, but he wouldn't go for it.

19 Weeks

Biggest developments this past week were that Katelyn finally rolled from tummy to back again on Saturday evening. And she hasn't really stopped since then! She's a rolling machine! :)

An eating day...

My mom and I joke that some days Brendan doesn't eat and other days are "eating days" where he doesn't seem to stop eating. We went to lunch at Shaprio's Deli after the zoo and Brendan gobbled up pretty much anything offered! And he sat so nicely in his highchair (with wheels!).

A Trip to the Zoo

As part of our family stay-cation at Mamaw & GrandBob's house, we all went to the zoo on Saturday morning. It was a pretty hot day, but we tried to get to the zoo early so the heat wasn't terrible. Katelyn cried the whole way there and then fell asleep as soon as we got into the zoo! Figures! :)

Brendan was a good boy and rode in his stroller for a little while...but I will admit, it's hard to see the animals when you're only a couple feet off the ground. (But on a super hot day, who wants to be carried or carry a small child!?)
The Cheetahs!
Checking out the giraffes. Uncle Rob was brave and fed them a small piece of sweet potato.

Chris & Brendan got to ride the little green zoo train. Brendan LOVED it! Kept talking about it.

Then we watched the elephant (Tombi) get a bath. This is the same elephant that we got to watch paint last summer. Brendan got to pet her a little bit after her bath...touched her ear and her side.
The shark exhibit was probably Brendan's favorite...after the train of course!

Katelyn even checked them out from a distance. :)
Brendan thought that the penguins were pretty cool too!

Corn!

We've been to the Fishers Farmer's Market several times this summer and always get some ears of fresh corn. We've all enjoyed the great Indiana corn, but Brendan is a particularly big fan. It's so funny to watch him pick up the whole ear and eat away at it! He's gotten to be such a big boy.

Exersaucer

We got the exersaucer out of the basement a couple weeks ago and Katelyn has been loving it! She bounces up and down in it and loves to turn around and play with all the different toys.

Yes, another trip to the Children's Museum

Brendan is for sure getting his fill of the Children's Museum. We went again on Monday and Chris took the morning off to come with us. Brendan really got into the Science Works section. So many new things to explore...and so many right up his alley!

Bisia & Grampy even had a little fun!
Looking at the fish...and there were a couple frogs in there too!

Like a moth to a flame...this is probably his favorite part!

Another carosel ride...Brendan didn't want to ride any animals, but Katelyn certainly had a great time!

More Swimming

Brendan's really getting to be brave in the water. Both a good thing and a scary thing! We'll probably do swimming lessons early next summer. Katelyn even enjoyed the water some too since it was so hot out!

More Children's Museum Fun

We are certainly getting our money's worth out of our Children's Museum membership. Brendan asks probably once a week..."I go Children's Museum?" Chris was able to take the day off and we went down with his parents. Brendan is very much into trains lately, so the trains in the basement is his favorite part.

Katelyn had her first ride on the carosel. Brendan wanted to go, but didn't want to ride on any of the animals.
We discovered a whole new section of the museum...Science Works today. We didn't have time to do much, but Brendan was fascinated by the Rubgoldberg like machine.

Where it all began...over 6 years ago...
Katelyn got to play in the Babyscape section of Playscape.
Making a cake...a white cake. :)
