Two teeth!

I was finally able to get a picture of Katelyn's first tooth coming in and noticed this morning that she has a second one coming in as well. Other than not sleeping great (not that she does anyway!), she's been a trooper about it.

Another zoo trip

It was a very nice & cool day today. Mamaw & I took Brendan & Katelyn to the zoo. We ended up doing some of the indoor stuff first, since it was chillier than we realized! The desert exhibit was a welcome relief from the cool morning air. But the cool weather was great for the animals as they were quite active once again! Brendan enjoyed seeing the animals, but his favorite part was riding the red train.

More IU Football

Another night time IU football game this weekend. Brendan really started to get into cheering for the team too, which was so fun to see. Katelyn feel asleep on her Daddy during the second half...what a trooper!

27 Weeks

Katelyn is now 6 months old! So hard to believe how quickly she is growing up.

Her doctor's appointment is next week, so I'll try to remember to add her stats here.

Not sure how accurate these are given that Katelyn was a complete wiggle worm!
So if these are accurate, she didn't get any taller and her head got smaller...probably not likely on either front. :) She's gaining weight and meeting developmental milestones, so I'm not worried.
Height 26 inches (48th percentile)
Weight 14 pounds, 13 ounces (19th percentile)
Head: 15 1/2 inches (<3rd percentile)

She starting having a really hard time getting back to sleep lately, so we've been taking her on stroller rides in the neighborhood to lull her back to sleep. It's working well, but not fun in the middle of the night and really won't be fun once it's cold out! But on a good note, we may know why she hasn't been sleeping well... a tooth! I noticed it yesterday morning...just a hint of white on her bottom gums. No swelling or redness and really no increased chewing or drooling, so I was a little bit surprised.

Katelyn loves to sit, but loves to stand even more. She isn't crawling yet, but does spin herself around in circles both by squirming as well as rolling around. She did do some scooting backwards this weekend, so I fear that she may be crawling soon.

We've gone through all of the "1st foods" vegetables and are now starting on fruits. She seems to really like all of her vegetables, carrots, peas & squash are probably her favorites, but she certainly doesn't mind green beans or sweet potatoes. I'm making 90% of her baby food at this point. Peas are really hard to get smooth enough for her, so I did break down and buy a few packs of those and the carrots that I made are a little lumpy, but I'm going to try again this week.

While we're talking about eating...she has still been refusing to take a bottle. I can't tell you how many bottles we've tried. She'll play with it - chew on it, etc., but once she's hungry and it's time to eat - she'll just scream bloody murder. BUT - we had a huge break through today. I left her at Mamaw's house while I went to get a manicure. While I was gone, she actually took a bottle! Over the course of 3 hours, she drank 3 ounces! The key appears to be a small enough bottle that she can hold herself and letting her lay on the floor or in a swing/bouncy seat to feed herself. Whatever it takes! :)

All of the bottles...I had to take a picture just for fun!

The winner...a Gerber 99 cent bottle with a latex nipple.

Of course we waited to try the cheap 99 cent Gerber bottles - should have known that my girl would be frugal too! :)

Sunday evening in the sandbox

We got Brendan a sand box earlier this summer and have just now gotten around to playing in it. The only way he'd love it more is if we'd let him bring his trains out into it!

Conner Prairie

So we now have the trifecta of Indianapolis area memberships - the zoo, the Children's Museum, and Conner Prairie.

We went to the Country Fair at Conner Prairie today. It was a nice day outside and Brendan enjoyed looking at the tractors that they had on display. Some of them were steam powered which was interesting to see. Something in between a horse drawn plow and a more modern tractor.

Katelyn & I went on a hayride...Brendan threw a fit and decided that he didn't want to go.

We also got to watch the tethered hot air balloon go up and down. They also had two little set ups so you could have your picture taken like you were in the balloon.

At the park with Daddy & Grampy

Katelyn climbing on the big green turtle.

On the slide with Grampy

Brendan & Daddy going down the "Big Scary" slide. When I first got brave enough to take both kids to the park, Brendan noticed this slide and wanted to go down it. I told him it was too scary. Mainly because I didn't want to have to go down it with him, but also that it really is pretty high up! So he started calling it the scary slide and soon it became "big scary" since there are some "little scary" slides at the park too, that he can go down by himself - but he won't. Daddy gets to go with him on those too...pretty funny sight!

Gowns

Katelyn tried on both of our Christening gowns after her afternoon nap today.

In her mommy's:

In her daddy's that Bisia made 33 years ago:

Luncheon

We hosted a luncheon here at our house after the church service to celebrate Katelyn's baptism. (We also of course had to watch the first Colts game of the season!)

We had lots of yummy food (thanks again to everyone who brought food!) and yummy cake too!

Too bad that the Colts couldn't provide a win for the first game of the season.

Katelyn's Baptism

Katelyn was baptized at our church today. She did sooo well! She doesn't let us leave her in the nursery at church - cries hysterically - so I was terrified that she'd throw a fit the second I handed her to Pastor Mike. She didn't make a peep! Pastor Mike was so impressed and even commented to us after the service how well she did. Brendan did pretty well considering that he was sick the day before and still seemed a little bit under the weather. Plus, he wanted to go to his "church school" room and play with the tractors, but we were afraid that he'd spread his stomach bug around to the other kids.

Sitting

I think that these are the first pictures that I've been able to get of Katelyn sitting by herself. We try to keep the Boppy pillow behind her so she doesn't crash her head into the hardwood floors when she does topple over.

Caboose Ride

We took a trip up to the Indiana Transportation Museum to see the trains and ride on a real caboose. Brendan had a great time looking at all the "train cars". We had a picnic lunch in Forest Park and then had our turn to ride on the cabooses. Katelyn enjoyed a good nap in the Bjorn during the train ride.
