She's Getting Bigger!

Katelyn weighed 8 pounds 8.9 ounces when we got to our Breastfeeding support group this morning. So, up almost 6 ounces in one week! She slept in my arms for most of the session, but did finally wake up to eat while we were there. After eating, she weighed 8 pounds 10.5 ounces - so she ate 1 1/2 ounces in a sitting.

Two Weeks Old!

Katelyn is 2 weeks old today! We're going to the Breastfeeding support group tomorrow, so we'll see if she's gained anymore weight then. Katelyn is nursing well and is sleeping about 3 1/2 hours at a time at night.

I feel like I'm doing 10x better in my recovery this time around...didn't take any pain medicine today and hope to drive soon. Definitely still have incision pain and am completely exhausted, but it has only been two weeks. :) I can walk fully upright for most of the day, but by evening, I start to feel hunched over from the pain. (If we decide to have a third child, I most likely will have to have another c-section :( - so this is a reminder to me as to how my recovery was.)

Apparently, having two children is a great weight loss program - I've lost all but 4 pounds of the 29 pounds I gained with Katelyn. So in total, I only have 10 pounds to lose before I will weigh what I weighed before getting pregnant with Brendan. :)

"Play Cars Down"

"Play Cars Down" is a commonly heard phrase in our house these days. Brendan really enjoys his new playroom and all the toys (his favorites are obviously the cars) that are down there to play with.
Even though today was a "Mamaw Day", Mamaw and Brendan hung out at our house with me & Baby Katelyn.

Another Sunday Dinner

We had dinner at Mamaw & GrandBob's tonight and decided to take some group pictures. We didn't get as many pictures taken in the hospital as we had hoped...it was kind of controlled chaos with Brendan around. :)

Trying out the play-mat

We brought out one of the playmats this afternoon to see what Katelyn thought of them. She wasn't real amused. Brendan kept trying to climb under the toy bar as well, so it didn't last real long. :)

First Bath at Home

We finally managed to give Katelyn her first sponge bath at home. (Yes, she was probably over due for a bath - two kids is a lot of work! I wanted Chris to be around for her first bath and most evenings by the time we got Brendan in bed, Katelyn was either mercifully asleep or nursing.) So, tonight, we bit the bullet so to speak and both kids got a bath at the same time. It actually worked out pretty well. Katelyn's cord still hasn't fallen off, so she just got a sponge bath on the bathroom counter while Brendan splashed around in his "tubby". She really did great with it...only got fussy towards the end and probably because it was almost time to eat again!

Miss Alana came for a visit

Miss Alana came up for a quick visit and brought Katelyn the most adorable flower headband. Pictures of Katelyn modeling the headband to follow soon!

Sleeping

Playing with my little sister!

Brendan has been a wonderful big brother. He's been "helping" me sometimes...getting out diapers and picking up things that I've dropped. He loves turning on the vibrating bouncy seat for Katelyn. He always says "Hi" to Baby Katelyn - he pronounces her name "Kate-n". He also has been so sweet in sharing his toys with her. Tonight it was his favorite stacking cups.

Weight check 3/23

We stopped by our doctor's office today to check on Katelyn's weight. Happy to report that she is already back to her birth weight of 8 pounds, 2 ounces!

Then we went over to the breastfeeding support group. One of the great parts of the support group is that they have a digital baby scale that weighs down to grams. You are able to weigh your baby, then feed them, and then weigh them again. The difference in their weights in grams is equal to the milliliters of breastmilk that they took in. Katelyn was a champion eater...ate one ounce and then ate another one & a half ounces in one sitting! So proud of her (& my milk supply!) :)

Katelyn's First Walk

It was so nice outside today, that after picking Brendan up from "school", we all went for a short walk.
Brendan was a very good boy and spent most of the walk actually in his wagon, eating his snack. Katelyn slept the entire time, all bundled up in her carseat.
