Katelyn had a slight fever when she was born - 101 F - and seemed to grunting a little bit while breathing, so they decided to take her up to the NICU for observation...likely only 4 hours. I hated to see her go and not get to hold her as soon as possible, but certainly wanted her checked out if anything was wrong!
After about two hours they were able to bring her back down to my room and we were able to do skin to skin and get her to latch on. It was actually great for me to get an hour or so of "rest" as I was completely wiped out and wouldn't have been likely able to function at all anyway!
One of the NICU doctors did notice a heart murmur while examining her. So a heart Echo was ordered for Tuesday morning. No one seems overly concerned as she is breathing well on room air.
