Getting closer...

Cabinets are up. Trim is done. Doors are in. Everything is primed for painting. We're getting closer to being done. Can't wait to watch some Colts games!

Anyone want a kitten?

Seriously...anyone looking for a kitten?!?

We apparently have a momma cat who decided a few weeks ago that one of our basement windows was an excellent place for her kittens to hide out. She was probably right, as it's fairly well sheltered with our landscaping in the back. We first noticed them after we got back from our trip from New Hampshire. Initially, there were four of them, but we haven't seen the fourth in several days to a week. We've seen the momma a few times and she hasn't been real thrilled with our presence...there's been audible hissing from her.
We're not feeding them or momma and we don't mind their presence (although it'd be nice if they'd pay some rent! LOL!). But they are probably getting to be old enough that they could be weaned and go to good homes and not live in the woods behind our house or worse... We've thought about calling the Hamilton County Animal Shelter, but we're pretty sure that they're already overwhelmed with cats & kittens.
So if anyone is interested in a kitten, you're welcome to one or all of them. Just get in contact with one of us!

They're pretty cute and are definitely curious about us when we're down in the basement working. Brendan is particularly enthralled with them and yells "Kittie" at them and makes us pick him up so that he can see them.

Baby Update! - 13 weeks - Ultrasound pictures added

I had my first official OB appointment last Thursday at 12 weeks with the group's new OB. My OB was still off on maternity leave and since I had the bleeding a few weeks ago, they thought that I should see one of the MDs, not the NP and have an ultrasound. That was fine with me. Everything was looking good at my appointment. I will post a picture as soon as I can get Chris to scan it! Baby measured at 12w1d although the OB thought that the baby was kinda curled up and not an accurate measurement.

Dr. C, the OB that I met with last week, saw no reason that I couldn't try for a VBAC. Their practice policy is that they don't generally let patients go much past 41 weeks, which isn't a huge deal, other than I don't like having a "deadline" for going into labor and what I think/know is my due date and what they think is my due date are off by about 5 days. Not a lot of time in the grand scheme of things, BUT I don't want to be forced into a C-section, when I'm only 2 days overdue, instead of a week. Plus, they will not induce me if I don't go into labor on my own. Not sure about augmentation of labor if it's slow or stalls...I guess we can discuss that at my next appointment. My due date is a long way off, but I feel like the more I know now, the better off I will be mentally if I am forced into a repeat C-section.

We've been listening to the heartbeat in the evenings. The baby's heartrate is usually around 140 beats per minute and we can hear him or her moving around.

I've also noticed a few flutters that I think are movement the past few days and early this morning after my nightly potty break, I definitely felt movement. This was pretty much exactly the same time that I felt Brendan move for the first time as well.
Here's baby at 12 weeks:

I do have a belly pic to post, but I'm not happy with it...I never quite lost all of my baby weight from Brendan, and I've only gained 4 pounds so far with this pregnancy, but I think that I just look fat and not pregnant. And to top it off, none of my normal clothes fit anymore! So, I'll post if everyone agrees to be nice to the hormonal pregnant lady! :)

18 Months

Better late than never!

Mastering the baby gate

The baby gate for the laundry with the doggie door has been a great addition to our house. It lets the dogs get to their crates & water bowls, but keeps Brendan out of the laundry room. That is, until recently...

Indianapolis Zoo

Mamaw and GrandBob won a chance to watch one of the Indianapolis Zoo's elephants paint, which included a private tour of the zoo. We were lucky enough to get to go with them plus Uncle Rob & Aunt Jenny. We had an amazing time and Brendan was very, very good all morning!

Watching the ducks...he's very into ducks...even tries to call them by saying "Duc, Duc" really, really loudly!

Then we checked on the Alaskan Brown Bears who were quite playful early in the morning. These are actually a brother and sister pair that were rescued from Alaska after their mother was killed for harassing hikers.

I think that everyone was looking at the birds (? bald eagle). Brendan calls them "tweet tweets".

Monkeys! They came over right away to check out Brendan ;)

Look at me!

Tombi Paints!

Dolphin Show
Most of my pictures just didn't turn out well...it's dark inside when the show is going on and their back drop makes the dolphins just blend in when they're in the air in my opinion.

Walruses!
We also got to go behind the scenes with the walruses and feed and pet them!

Brendan didn't seem scared at all! The trainers were very impressed. They said that most small children totally freak out.

Walruses have an amazing sucking power...they will suck small fish thru a tube!

Buddies

Dora & Ellie seem to be getting along pretty well, don't you think?

Drywall!

We had a nice present when we came home from our trip to New Hampshire, in that the drywall was hung/mudded, etc. while we were gone! Maybe the basement will get done this year!
